Since I was little, my stepmom told me how my hair was fine. I didn't know what that meant, but I learned as I got older that it sucked.
Once I became old enough to use the curling iron, my hair broke off, and my fine hair couldn't handle the heat.
I don't know why I even tried to curl, crimp, and wave because, within minutes of leaving the bathroom, it lost any shape I gave it.
During my time in hair school, my classmates glued machine-tied wefts onto my scalp and started my obsession. The method only lasted two days and became my passion for finding a longer-term solution.
If you can name it, I've experimented with it in my hair. I always add hair from individually bonded strands or clipped in wefts, sticky tape, and halos. My biggest obstacle was hiding where they were attached. My thought was,
"It's okay, and I'm a hairdresser. I'd rather have more hair than no hair, even if you can see them."
I'm cringing as I write that.
There weren't any other options. That was my reality. My friends stopped trying to help me hide them and would let others know,
"It's okay; they always are showing."
In 2017, I set out to grow my business with more extension clients. When I came across NBR and Danielle's Instagram, I had to have whatever extensions they were doing.
I learned so much in the class—a whole new method of how to grow a business and reach other people. With the newfound confidence my hair extensions gave me; I was flourishing.
It's been five years since I started wearing NBR myself, and my hair has never been in better condition.
Everything that I say and sell to my guests is true because I have experienced it. The confidence you gain about yourself translates into your everyday life.
If you can dream it, you can have it.
